Overall purpose of role

The role as financial analyst in Barclays UK will focus within the Wealth business and the asset management products that are manufactured with in the division. The team manages all of the internal funds in Barclays with around 15 fund companies and 50+ funds with AUM’s of £20bn.

Key Accountabilities and Skills required:

Financial Control 30-40%
Manage part of the interim and year and accounts/audit of the fund entities with external auditors and administrators building strong relationships and understanding across a wide variety of areas.
Managing external auditors with regards to audit deliverables both for entities under responsibility and follow with funds governance team the clearance of audit findings.
Support manager with attendance at board meetings to present financial reports.
Take leadership in identifying and implementing improvements to the financial control framework.
Work closely with funds operations oversight team to review fund controls and create synergies.

Financial & Management Reporting 30-40%
Review AUM reporting by MI (COE) team and reconcile back to internal control and channel reporting for senior management.
Preparation and reconciliation of fund data to present end to end fund profitability for reporting on a quarterly basis.
Preparation of asset and revenue forecast models on a quarterly basis which are used for scenario analysis for projects and senior management decision making.
Management packs for Barclays Asset Management Ltd, annual financial statements preparation of Barclays Asset Management Ltd.

Strategic Initiatives – 20-40%
Drive through efficiencies in the fund audit/accounts process by working with business, board members and senior management to help design a sustainable operating model.
Build in efficiencies and controls in reporting processes for end to end profitability and revenue distribution models.
Support key business initiatives and significant transactions, ensuring the appropriate finance due diligence and associated accounting impacts are understood and implemented – examples of current projects include administrator changes, MANCO, Introduction of new investment manager, SRP.

All Barclay’s colleagues have to ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

Your Skills and Qualifications will include

Role requirements
Ability to apply analytical skills and problem solve in a wide variety of circumstances
Attention to detail, with the ability to produce high quality output – Output impacts customers as well as internal stakeholders; attention to detail will ensure the accuracy and robustness of data used
Ability to execute at speed to meet tight deadlines
Strong communication skills required. Articulate communicator with effective negotiating skills
Demonstrates good team work qualities

Professional/technical experience
Strong technical fund accounting and reporting knowledge gained within the financial services industry or within an asset management company
Demonstrates understanding of end to end financial control/accounting processes and related issues
Understands and complies with all applicable governance, compliance, risk policies and procedures
Demonstrates understanding of fund structures and industry practices
PC/system literacy – Excel skills to at least intermediate standard
Knowledge of SAP (Preferred)

Academic and professional qualifications
Strong academic background
Relevant finance qualifications – qualified or part qualified. Strong experience in role will also be considered

Demonstrates initiative showing enthusiasm and taking responsibility/ accountability for deliverables
Self-motivation – able to operate with limited direction
Ability to work well under pressure and deliver accurate results
Works well as part of a wider Finance Team and maintains good relations with colleagues
