The Energy & Resources (E&R) Indirect Tax team is looking for an experienced individual who can help it to capitalise on this growing market.

The E&R sector includes a diverse range of businesses, with clients ranging from global oil & gas super-majors to innovative start-up renewable energy companies. The industry continues to grow globally as the world’s demand for energy and resources increases, and our team advises clients at the cutting edge of industry developments e.g. through the use of innovative technology or expanding into new markets. Deloitte’s E&R Indirect Tax team has a strong client relationships and is recognised as one of the leading teams in the marketplace.

Consistent with our clients’ operations, our work is often global in nature and gives members of our team a chance to broaden their knowledge and interact with our global network on a regular basis. We assist clients across all indirect taxes – as well as working very closely with customs and global trade specialists, our team is also the centre of expertise for UK environmental taxes.

Working in the E&R team will provide you with the opportunity to become involved in challenging and interesting work, where innovation is welcomed and team spirit vibrant.

You will work on clients who operate across the E&R landscape, and you will be responsible for developing client relationships and providing clear, insightful advice that draws on your industry knowledge.

You will be given the autonomy to establish your own contacts within a client and reach your own solutions. You will be encouraged to build your own network both within Deloitte and externally. You will benefit from the support and advice of the Indirect Tax team and wider network.

Responsibilities

Consultant will have responsibility for:
Assisting with enhancing relationships with both existing client and target accounts, contributing to winning new work
Leading existing client engagements, reporting directly to a partner on some accounts
Continuing to develop your Indirect Tax technical knowledge, with a particular focus on issues affecting businesses in the E&R sector
Assisting with developing less experienced team members with hands on advice and support
Input into the development of new market opportunities locally, nationally and internationally with an opportunity to lead business development initiatives
Working closely with colleagues in other parts of the firm
Acting upon the firm’s commitment to creating a more inclusive culture in your day to day interactions with colleagues and clients

Requirements

To qualify for the role you must have:
CTA or equivalent qualification
Prior VAT experience gained within industry, professional services or HMRC
Excellent client facing, relationship building and business development skills, coupled with commercial awareness
The ability to be proactive, identify opportunities, and take responsibility for and ownership of your client portfolio
