Communications and Engagement Assistant AfC Band 4.
Be part of a busy ambitious team playing your part in putting patients and the public first in everything NHS England does.
A great first role for a marketing, communications or public relations graduate or someone with a flair for communications and engagement, no two days are the same. This role requires creativity, stamina and personal drive plus a desire to learn.
This is a fast-paced environment with sometimes short deadlines dealing with a diverse range of issues.
The right person for this job will be a self-starting team player able to understand the priorities for the NHS to help deliver them on the ground by supporting the communications team. They will work as part of a regional team for NHS England’s Directorate of Commissioning Operations, Andrew Pike based in Victoria House, Fulbourn, Cambridge
There will be an opportunity to develop and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, whilst providing a comprehensive communications and stakeholder engagement service to NHS England in the East. As well as delivering locally, you will also have the opportunity to support and contribute to regional and national programmes of work as part of the wider NHS England team.
Reporting to the East Senior Communications and Engagement Manager, the area you’ll support includes Cambridge, Peterborough, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk.
The role’s duties are set out in the job description but include:
• Maintaining current and accurate lists of key stakeholders, including contact details
• Promoting and maintaining excellent relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
• Working collaboratively and supporting communications and engagement colleagues working for NHS England at sub regional, regional and national level to ensure prompt and accurate service delivery
• Undertaking administration of, and develop, efficient office and service systems and processes
• Keeping accurate records of requests and progress against them
• Drafting basic communications, statements and press releases (with the guidance of managers, as appropriate) within the agreed timescales in a consistent manner, (applying relevant exemptions if FOI)
• Sourcing, gather and collate information for communications, briefings and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests
• Administering, as required, the process for ensuring NHS England is compliant with the FOI act
• Checking information to ensure it answers the questions for which it is gathered – fit for purpose and processed in compliance with governance.
